It’s been a whirlwind week and a half for design aficionados, including yours truly. From hand-painted cloud pendants to chairs made from recycled sneakers, here are 15 of the most memorable launches this market editor saw throughout the city.

After co-locating with WantedDesign Manhattan since 2019, ICFF appointed WantedDesign co-founders Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat as its co-brand directors late last year. The announcement was an exciting one — Hainaut and Pijoulat have always managed to strike a savvy balance between the commercial and creative aspects of the industry, presenting beautiful designs while also encouraging deeper reflection about the ideas behind them.

At the core of New York Design Week is the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), which for the past few years has been paired with former offsite fair WantedDesign Manhattan at the Javits Center. Held from May 21 to 23, this year’s edition featured hundreds of exhibitors, including a slew of independent studios hailing from across North America.

That’s where WantedDesign Manhattan stands out: nestled inside the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), at Wanted (as the fair is known), one can see the latest trends from commercial manufacturers whilst also checking out the freshest new ideas from emerging designers from all over the world.

After COVID postponements, cancellations, and downsizings, NYCxDESIGN is returning in full force this May. The tenth-anniversary edition of the festival, which runs from May 10 to 20, will flood New York’s five boroughs with design in all its forms.
