Taking home the Best of Schools prize, the School of Visual Arts MFA in Products of Design (PoD) wowed the jury with RE-ACTORS, a series of five installations designed to create “re-physicalizing” and “re-socializing” experiences that trigger specific emotional reactions from its visitors. For the Best of Students prize, Bill Carroll was chosen for his Dust Chair as part of RISD’s Embodied & Imbued exhibition.
We’re excited to share that at this year’s WantedDesign Manhattan 2022 Launch Pad program, sponsored by American Standard, Erika Cross was the chosen winner for the Best of Launch Pad for the Furniture category! Design Milk was the official media partner for the competition and assisted in the jurying process.
DESIGN WEEKS ANYWHERE usually involve running from studios to galleries to alternative exhibition spaces. NYCxDESIGN is no exception and to catch the best the week has to offer can be quite a challenge. That’s where WantedDesign Manhattan stands out: nestled inside the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), at Wanted (as the fair is known), one can see the latest trends from commercial manufacturers whilst also checking out the freshest new ideas from emerging designers from all over the world.
For this post-health-crisis 2022 edition, the ICFF + WantedDesign thought big, and in synergy, in a sharing of spaces. In fact, 378 exhibitors – including 107 new participants -, from 23 countries, were present at the two shows to present the latest design innovations.
See the hottest new finds from ICFF. First-time exhibitors as well as long-established brands from across the globe highlighted their newest product introductions at the recent ICFF and WantedDesign shows at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York. Here are a few of the new furniture, lighting and accessories items we saw there.
With open-studio design crawls off the beaten path, a vibrant array of exhibitions and, of course, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) – which again joins forces with WantedDesign Manhattan to take place at the Javits Center – there will be plenty to see all over the city.
In mid-May, design took center stage across the entirety of New York City as thousands of creatives gathered for ten days to celebrate NYCxDESIGN. In its tenth year, the festival included hundreds of events across all five boroughs, the largest of which was ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan.
Furniture, lighting, kitchen, bathroom, textiles, seats, wall and floor coverings, rugs, accessories, materials... WantedDesign Manhattan and the ICFF, the most important design fairs in North America, are back from 15 to May 17 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and WantedDesign Manhattan will debut the best in new and innovative design-driven products for the residential, contract, and hospitality markets. The Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw was founded in 1977. Our programme follows holistic thinking about design. It combines product design, visual communication and fashion design with market knowledge, technology, social sciences, art and culture. The three fundamental pillars of our programme are design, art and theory. DesignFuture is the new MA programme. Its aim is to direct research and design towards our main goal that is the restoration of harmony between humanity and nature. This strategic goal requires sensitivity to social issues as well as synergy with developing technologies in order to build a new and ethical economy. Research and teaching concentrates around three wide, evolving, current subject areas: society, culture and the planet and their interconnectedness.
