WantedDesign is a platform dedicated to promoting design and fostering the local and international creative community throughout the year.

Celebrating design education and and the young creatives

In place of its traditional in-person May events showcasing the work of design students as part of WantedDesign Brooklyn, WantedDesign presents this spring the WantedDesign Online International Schools Show, May 12 – June 12, 2021, featuring work from more than 180 students from 15 international design schools in a lively online experience.

The online exhibition will be paired with programming including the Conscious Design Awards with Metropolis magazine, a panel discussion co-hosted with Clever podcast to kick off the International Schools Show and the Emerging Designer Showcase presented with Be Original Americas.

“Since 2012, we have been more and more passionate about collaborating with design educators to make  WantedDesign a platform that stay relevant, complementing what students learn at school and offer them what a school can not teach: An immersion into the professional world, guidance to find their personal path and what they want to pursue, opportunities to build their international network. More than ever in 2021, our goal is to have students and faculties alike benefiting from international connections to create friendships and initiate exchanges and partnerships.” comment Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, co-founders of WantedDesign.

The Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw was founded in 1977. Our programme follows holistic thinking about design. It combines product design, visual communication and fashion design with market knowledge, technology, social sciences, art and culture. The three fundamental pillars of our programme are design, art and theory. DesignFuture is the new MA programme. Its aim is to direct research and design towards our main goal that is the restoration of harmony between humanity and nature. This strategic goal requires sensitivity to social issues as well as synergy with developing technologies in order to build a new and ethical economy. Research and teaching concentrates around three wide, evolving, current subject areas: society, culture and the planet and their interconnectedness.

Auburn has intentionally crafted distinct Foundation studios for 1st and 2nd year students. While there is certainly some overlap in content (color, 2D composition, 3D form development), the projects are able to focus on discipline specific deliverables and learning outcomes.

Rhode Island School of Design | RISD

Providence, Rhode Island, United States.

Furniture Design at Rhode Island School of Design is an expansive discipline, where students synthesize ideas about what furniture is, what it’s for, how it’s made, what it’s made of, and what potential it has for artists and designers. The department’s curriculum emphasizes hands-on work to foster skills with a variety of tools, techniques and technologies, and challenges students to develop ethical, sensitive, and knowledgeable use of materials. Useful objects are viewed as important expressions of culture, with the functional expectations one brings to an object understood as both an opportunity for innovation and a point to diverge from. Furniture Design students investigate some of the most important questions facing designers today—from how to take advantage of changing technologies and new materials, to how to respond to variable economic conditions and evolving lifestyles.
