In an era of complexity and uncertainty, the exploration of art, design, and architecture can help us better understand our past and present to create another perspective. As new generations are faced with constant reinvention we must embrace more imaginative, intuitive, and aware ways of working. Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture advocates for this — what if — approach at all levels. Through our multidisciplinary studies we look to move beyond academic silos, bridging the fields of art, technology, and business to forge something anew.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Appalachian is one of 17 campuses in the University of North Carolina System. Appalachian enrolls more than 19,000 students and offers more than 150 undergraduate and graduate majors. The department of Applied Design is dedicated to fostering excellence in design education, design research, and professional placement. It balances theoretical and pragmatic approaches while exploring an awareness of impact of design decisions on the global community. Its mission is to provoke an educational foundation that prepares students to enter the design profession and become leaders in the design community.
The School of Industrial + Graphic Design at Auburn University resides in the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction. Both programs are nationally recognized and the industrial design programs, graduate and undergraduate, remain as the only degree programs of their type in Alabama. Auburn has intentionally crafted distinct Foundation studios for 1st and 2nd year students. While there is certainly some overlap in content (color, 2D composition, 3D form development), the projects are able to focus on discipline specific deliverables and learning outcomes.
Central Saint Martins, UAL (CSM) is internationally renowned for the creative energy of its students, staff and graduates; and has an exceptional reputation for educating foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and research students in arts, design and performance. UAL is second in the QS rankings of the top art and design universities in the world. Product, Ceramic & Industrial Design brings together four courses of study to engage in design through materiality and materiality through design: BA Product & Industrial Design, BA Ceramic Design, MA Industrial Design, MA Design Furniture, Ceramics and Jewellery.
CENTRO is an urban model for higher education in design, architecture, digital media and film in Mexico City. It focuses on the critical role of creativity in analyzing and resolving problems of varied complexity in diverse contexts, using a human centered and system-oriented approach. Through a specialized and personalized educational model, CENTRO forms creative experts with a socially conscious, sustainable, and entrepreneurial perspective. It offers 7 undergraduate and 20 graduate degree programs to future generations of creative leaders in Mexico and beyond.
First dedicated to printing, École Estienne has become an institute of visual communication, graphic design and book art. The DSAA Design & Digital creation is intended for students wishing to engage in a career in the field of communication on digital media and interactive design. The DSAA (higher diploma in applied arts) is a Master 1 type state diploma, obtained after a two years study and the DSAA DCN, is a two year research laboratory that takes into account the transversal dimension that exists between the different fields of digital creation through workshops and partnership projects.
ENSCI-Les Ateliers became the first school entirely devoted to design in France, it has been ranked first among French “Art and Design” training institutions in the annual QS World University Rankings. Today, it is ranked 22nd among the 800 best schools and universities in the world. Two diplomas are offered in initial training: Textile designer and Industrial Designer, each at Master level. In the field of Continuing Education, ENSCI delivers two Specialized Masters, accredited by the “Conference des Grandes Écoles”, as well as a post-graduate degree and a new Master of Science in Biomimicry.
Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art offers a wide range of programs in design and contemporary crafts across nine major courses of study. With innovation and excellence as the main focus, students are encouraged to pursue an interdisciplinary approach within and outside the school. Partner of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nantes, L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for higher education dedicated to design professions, in association with the University of Nantes. The MDes Transcultural Design / Le Studio France is a two year postgraduate program that encourages the exploration of French culture in an applied interdisciplinary context. The program revolves around the acquisition of methodological tools from Design Thinking, promoting a comprehensive and user-centered approach to design projects.

Since its founding in 1866, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been a leader in educating the world’s most influential artists, designers, and scholars. With a fine arts graduate program ranking among the top programs in the United States by U.S. News and World Report, the School provides an interdisciplinary approach to art and design. SAIC’s undergraduate, graduate, and postbaccalaureate students have the freedom to take risks and create bold ideas. The Designed Objects program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago focuses on the critical rethinking of the object.
University of the Arts became the largest institution of its kind in the nation, offering programs in design, fine arts, media arts, crafts, music, dance, theater and writing. It now features 30 undergraduate arts majors, 15 graduate programs and the nation’s first PhD program in Creativity. University of the Arts’ mission is simple: to advance human creativity. The Master of Design in Product Design is a program that explores the nature of materials, products and manufacturing from a regional and global perspective, using Philadelphia’s urban core as a laboratory for design intervention and innovation.
The School of Design of Universidad de Medellín was founded in 2017 as the first school of Arts at the University, seeking to captivate avant-garde thoughts, logical and creative own dynamics of new educational trends. It is postulated as a method of action based on the human faculty to assume its interventions holistically, and thus, be able to translate, materialize and adapt its environment with practicality to individual or collective needs from the following fields of knowledge: Space Design Management, Fashion and Textile Design Management and Product Design Management.

Sports Product Design is the creation of innovative sport products through research and design, it prepares designers to be key members and leaders of multidisciplinary development teams within the more than 800 sports product companies located in Oregon and beyond. The degree also focuses on innovation methodology, athletic performance, sustainability, and sports product marketing and branding.
